AHA Heartsaver
Instructors
American
Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver instructors teach lifesaving CPR, AED,
and first aid courses for the non-medical community. Heartsaver instructors
are not required to have a medical background to teach.

Other AHA Instructor Certifications include:
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- BLS - Basic Life Support
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support
General
requirements to be an AHA instructor:
- A current
AHA provider card for the course you wish to teach.
- A letter
of recommendation to be an instructor from an affiliate/regional or
course faculty member (not required for BLS).
- Letter
from a Training Center Coordinator indicating that the TC will accept
you as an instructor.
- Committment
to teach two courses per year according to AHA guidelines.
Additional requirements for Lifework instructors:
Instructors are expected to possess and portray qualities that include, but are not limited to, the following:
- a neat, clean, and professional presence
- comprehensive knowledge of course content
- demonstration of expert course skills
- responsibility to client time constraints and special needs
- resourcefulness and positive adaptability to unexpected events
- ability to engage the student with energy and enthusiasm
